Association of Women from Epirus of Korinthia
The Association of Women from Epirus of Korinthia was established in May 2017, with its headquarters in the town of Kiato. It represents approximately 7,500 women from Epirus residing in the Corinthia region. The Association aims to create an active awareness among its members, especially the younger generations, about the history of their homeland, its values, customs, traditions, and culture through a variety of activities and events. These include:
-
Creation of a dance group with performances both within Greece and abroad.
-
Establishment of a section for the construction of traditional Epirus costumes.
-
Creation of a collection of traditional Epirus costumes in a wardrobe.
-
Collection of historical and folkloric items and documents from Epirus.
-
Exhibitions of traditional Epirus costumes and paintings by Epirote artists.
-
Visits to museums, historical sites, and areas with ecological, cultural, and aesthetic significance.
-
Events of educational, social, and literary interest, particularly related to Epirus.
The constant reference point of the Association remains the Epirote woman, who, with her ethos, dignity, struggle, and heroism, represents a perpetual legacy of values. Key milestones include the inclusion of the Association in the Panepirotic Confederation of Greece and the creation of the "Epirotic House" in Korinthia.
