Kefalari

Kefalari is built amphitheatrically at an altitude of 800 meters, on the slopes of Mount Kyllini (Ziria). Behind it rises the peak of Mikri Ziria and the famous plateau "Isomata."

The village takes its name from a spring located 1800 meters east, at an altitude of 674 meters, near the small chapel of Saint George. This idyllic spot offers a stunning view. The village's old name was "Dousia," and legend has it that at this very spring, the famous Greek general Makrygiannis once rested when he and Gouras arrived there to face the civil unrest of 1824.

Its residents are mainly engaged in agriculture and livestock farming. However, in recent years, there has been a strong focus on developing alternative forms of tourism, and the village now hosts two high-quality guesthouses.
