Lavka
Lavka is built at an altitude of 680 meters, southwest of Lake Stymphalia, on the slopes of Mount Oligyrtos.
A distinctive feature of the village is the small stream that runs through it, crossed by countless small bridges built by the locals. However, the true gem of the village is the Church of Saint Athanasios, which was constructed in 1888-89 on the site of an older church. Lavka's contribution to the Greek War of Independence was particularly significant, as the Oikonomopoulos family, based in the village, played an active and crucial role in both the preparation and progress of the struggle. According to several historical sources, the Oikonomopoulos house in Lavka served as a center for the Filiki Eteria (Society of Friends) during the pre-revolutionary years. The church is notable for its exceptional wooden iconostasis, a work of the craftsman Lykourgos, and its icons, created by monks from Mount Athos. Finally, Lavka has had a Folk Museum since 1993, showcasing old household utensils and agricultural tools.
