Gkoura
Gkoura, the main village of the region, is situated at an altitude of 950 meters on the western slopes of Ziria, in the northern part of the Feneos basin, in the upper valley of the Olvios River. It was the seat of the former municipality of Feneos and has several services, including a Health Center, a High School, and a Gymnasium.
Visitors should take the time to admire its beautiful main square, with its impressive stone-built church, as well as the 19th-century mansions of the revolutionary leader Nikolaos Oikonomou-Gkoura, of Sarlis, and of Mourtis. These mansions are historical listed monuments, characteristic of the local 19th-century architecture.
