Titani
Titani is located 30 km southwest of Kiato, at an altitude of 580 meters, on the eastern slopes of Mount Vesiza (1,200 meters). The village has approximately 300 inhabitants, most of whom are engaged in agriculture.
Visible and not far from the village, to the northwest, is the walled Acropolis of ancient Titanis, the most significant ex Urbis and sanctuary of ancient Sicyon. According to Pausanias, Titanis got its name from Titan, the first inhabitant of the village and brother of the Sun.
In ancient times, there was a temple of Asclepius, which was built by Alexander when he arrived in Sicyon. The Asclepius sanctuary of Titanis was widely renowned as a therapeutic center in antiquity, as the excellent climate of the area contributed to the healing of many diseases. From the ritual details mentioned by Pausanias, it seems that worship in this area was very ancient, possibly dedicated to local gods, one of whom was succeeded by Asclepius. Around the temple, there were buildings for the accommodation of patients as well as the temple servants. Inside the temple, there were statues of Asclepius and his daughter Hygieia.
