At an altitude of 1,000 meters, beneath the shadow of Mount Dourdouvana and to the north of the village center of Panorama, stands the famous Byzantine Church of Saint Demetrius, located in the area of the present cemetery. The church was built with local stone around the middle of the 13th century and is a simple example of Byzantine church architecture.

What sets it apart, however, are the frescoes of saints on the interior walls. As a result of a Turkish raid during the Ottoman period, the eyes of all the saints in the frescoes have been gouged out. Sword marks and scratches on the walls have removed the colors and designs, leaving a haunting spectacle!
